Today's new jobs report was better-than-expected. The initial reaction on the market was very bullish. But, soon the market turned south. As the dollar rose, the commodity sectors retreated and dragged the market lower. However, in the last 2 hours, financials and techs pushed higher to close the market back into the green. Gold, after reaching $1220/ounce earlier in the week, fell $46 to close above $1161/ounce. Oil was initially higher, but, closed slightly lower. Semiconductors were especially strong.
The market has been trading in a tight range for 3 weeks now, and still, there are mixed signals from various sectors (as indicated in last weekend's Market Forecast). I'll be back on Sunday with the Market Forecast for next week.
